Who we are
OsteoScan is run by Simon Guinane and Tracey Jones who run a busy osteopathic practice in Mid-Wales between Hay-on-Wye and Brecon.
We qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in 1989 and 1990 respectfully and after owning a practice together in London returned to Wales in 1997 where we have worked ever since.
We have both been working in the field of musculo-skeletal medicine for over 20 years and initially purchased the Calscan in order to assess our own patients at our clinic to ensure safer and more effective treatment. We soon saw the short fall locally and nationally and have offered the service to the wider public. This in a private capacity, in residential homes and we hope to secure a contract with our local NHS trust.
Our training for the use of the Calscan complies with The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IRMER) 2000 Schedule 1 and 2 which ensures appropriate and safe exposure to radiation.
We are registered with The General Council and Register of Osteopaths (GOsC) as are all osteopaths in the UK. Osteopaths are regulated under the Osteopaths Act (1993). The GOsC administer the act with regard to the education, registration and conduct of all osteopaths. One of the benefits of the Osteopaths Act (1993) is that the title "Osteopath" is itself protected by law and only those registered with the GOsC may call themselves an Osteopath. It is illegal to call yourself an osteopath if you are not registered with the GOsC, the maximum penalty is imprisonment.
